Little Moments. Big Opportunities.

You don’t need to be a teacher. You just need to be curious.

Six Bricks @ Home gives you simple ways to support your child’s play — without taking over, showing them how, or needing to know the “right” answer.

Your role isn’t to have all the answers. It’s to wonder alongside them.

SUPPORTING THE PLAY

Sometimes the best thing we can do is a little less.

Children need time to notice, try, change their minds and discover for themselves. These six simple habits help us support their thinking without taking over.

WAIT

Give them time to think.

WATCH

Notice what they try.

WONDER

Be curious alongside them.

ASK

Use questions that open up thinking.

LISTEN

Let their ideas lead the conversation.

ENCOURAGE

Notice the trying, not just the result.

Try saying this ...

Small changes in our words can create more room for thinking.

INSTEAD OF “Put the red brick on top.”

TRY “I wonder where that one could go?”

INSTEAD OF “No, turn it around.”

TRY “Hmm… what else could you try?”

INSTEAD OF “Well done! You did it!”

TRY “You kept trying even when it didn’t work.”

Less telling. More wondering.
